ChurchHope began in 2014 in a rented dance studio on Kallidromiou Street, Exarcheia, with eleven adults and four restless children sitting on borrowed plastic chairs. Founders **Andreas Petropoulos** (a former hospital chaplain from Patras) and **Marta Liakou-Brennan** (a Greek-Irish counsellor who had returned from Dublin during the financial crisis) wanted a church that felt like the kitchen table of a friend who actually listens. They were tired of services where strangers stayed strangers, and tired of religion that asked people to clean themselves up before walking in.
